on a serious note, god apparently has no say in the matter, because isn’t the bible written by men? i mean, it’s not like it was written by god…

I wonder whether the urge for so many gay men to be part of the church is similar to some Christians’ urge to flagellate themselves. I’ve often thought that if the church were to ask all gay priests, ministers, predikants and dominees to take a step to the left and defrock themselves the institution would struggle to keep going – certainly when I attended church (Anglican) years ago, the only heterosexual working there was the broad-minded and tolerant minister in charge. (All the rest, the organist and most of the male members (yes, I know!) of the choir were singing from a different hymnbook). Of course all the old biddies in the congregation couldn’t get enough of them.

The rules were simple: toe the line, don’t be TOO blatant and don’t go after the choirboys. One minister got ‘banished to Bokomoland’ for his sins and another defrocked for inviting too many choirboys for rides on his motorbike (lit. not fig.)

Gay DRC ministers take the ‘kant’ out of ‘predikant’.
